Getting Started
A Drop is an end-to-end encrypted bundle of files, messages, and instructions that you configure with delivery rules (time, inactivity, or manual). Only your chosen recipients can decrypt it.
Open the app or web app, create a new Drop, add content, choose recipients, then set your delivery rules. When the rule triggers, recipients receive a secure link to decrypt on their device.
Security & Encryption
No. Drop contents are encrypted on your device. We only store ciphertext and minimal metadata necessary to deliver your rules. Decryption happens on recipients’ devices.
We use industry-standard, independently reviewed cryptography (e.g., AES-256 for content encryption and PBKDF2 for key derivation). Keys are never shared with our servers in plaintext.
Because we use end-to-end encryption, we cannot recover content without your keys. We recommend enabling multi-device key transfer and storing recovery info securely.
Delivery Rules (Triggers)
Time-based release, inactivity (heartbeat) release, and manual release. You can combine rules per Drop.
You choose a heartbeat interval (e.g., every 7, 14, or 30 days). If no heartbeat is received from your account within that window plus grace, your Drop releases per your settings.
Recipients & Access
Recipients follow a secure link and decrypt locally. An account may be required for multi-device access or if you enable additional verification steps.
Yes—until a Drop is released. You can update recipients, rules, or delete the Drop entirely. After release, changes won’t affect already delivered copies.
Storage, Limits & Billing
Free: 1 Drop / 1 Recipient / basic storage.
Basic: Up to 3 Drops / 5 Recipients / 1GB storage.
Pro: Up to 10 Drops / 20 Recipients / 10GB storage.
Estate Premium: Unlimited recipients / 50GB storage / advanced triggers.
Purchases are managed by Apple, Google, or our payment processor. Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled before renewal. Refunds follow platform policies and applicable law.
Data & Deletion
You can delete Drops and your account from within the app/web. You can also email [email protected] and we’ll assist subject to legal obligations.
No. We do not sell personal information. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Yes—creators sign in to manage Drops, recipients, delivery rules, files, and billing. Recipients may not need an account to decrypt, depending on the options you set.
Sign-in links can include a short-lived token to complete login in the browser and then redirect you to the app. Never share a URL that contains a token. If you think a token was exposed, just sign out and sign back in.
Devices & Keys
Open Account → Devices & Keys on your current device and start pairing. On the new device, choose Import keys and scan the code. This securely transfers the keys needed to decrypt your Drops.
That drop’s decryption key isn’t on this device yet. Tap Import keys (or Pair device) and complete the secure transfer from another device that has access. Once the key is present, you can view and manage the drop.
Files & Attachments
Yes. Large files are encrypted and uploaded in parts automatically. You’ll see progress in the app and you can cancel if needed. If storage is full, we’ll stop and let you free space or upgrade.
If a file with the same name already exists in the drop, duplicates are skipped to avoid confusion. Rename the file and try again if you intended to keep both.
Links & Invites
Each recipient gets a secure, recipient-specific link. You can send immediately or wait for the delivery rule to trigger. You can also rotate a link to invalidate any previously sent link for that recipient.
We discourage forwarding. If a link is shared, you can Rotate link for that recipient, which invalidates the older URL and issues a new one.
Scheduling Details
For fixed releases, we store your chosen local date/time and timezone. We display upcoming times in your local zone, and handle DST changes automatically based on that zone.
We send a lightweight heartbeat when you sign in and periodically while you use the app. If the system doesn’t see a heartbeat within your chosen window (plus a small grace), your drop releases according to your rule.
Yes. Edit the drop’s release condition at any time before it releases. Some plans include fixed scheduling; if it’s locked, you can still use inactivity or upgrade to enable fixed releases.
Usage, Quotas & Plans
Go to Account → Usage & Plan. You’ll see used storage, quota, file count, and your active plan, with upgrade or manage-subscription options.
New uploads will fail until you free space (delete files or drops) or upgrade your plan. You can always manage files from each drop’s Files screen.
On iOS/Android, purchases are handled by Apple/Google. On the web, checkout and a self-serve billing portal are available. Plan changes take effect immediately after the store confirms the purchase.
Web App & Browser
Yes—create drops, manage files and recipients, configure rules, and view upcoming releases from any modern browser. Some store-specific purchase flows are only available in the native apps.
Sorting, Lists & Upcoming
All shows every drop. Upcoming shows drops with a future release (inactivity or fixed), and Dispatched shows drops that have already been sent. Use the Sort menu to change ordering (created, dispatched, release time, or title).
Troubleshooting
Check Usage & Plan. If you’re near your limit, delete files/drops or upgrade. For very large files, make sure you have a stable connection and enough free device storage for encryption during upload.
Ask them to check spam and promotions folders. You can also open the drop’s Recipients screen and re-send or rotate the link, then share it directly via your preferred channel.
